Privacy Policy
How information shared with AwareMedic is collected, used, stored and kept under your control.
AwareMedic does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.
Scope of This Policy
This policy applies to the AwareMedic website and to every form, account and message exchanged through it. It explains what is gathered when someone browses the site, creates an account or writes in with a Medicare question, and what happens to that information afterwards.
Using the site means accepting the practices set out below. Where a specific service carries additional terms, those terms are presented at the point where the service is used and sit alongside this policy rather than replacing it.
Information Provided Directly
Some details only arrive because someone chooses to share them. Those details typically include:
- Name, email address and phone number entered on a signup or contact form.
- Account credentials created to save and revisit a comparison.
- Health related context volunteered to make a comparison useful, such as the doctors currently seen or the prescriptions taken each month.
- Coverage details already held, including plan type and the renewal period that applies.
- The content of any message, question or reply sent through the site.
Sharing any of this is voluntary. Leaving a field blank simply narrows what a reply can address.
Information Collected Automatically
Ordinary technical details are recorded whenever a page loads, in the same way they are across most of the web. These cover browser type and version, device category, approximate region drawn from network address, referring page, and the pages viewed during a visit along with the time spent on them.
This material is used to keep the site working properly, to spot broken links and slow pages, and to understand which subjects are read most. It is not used to build advertising profiles.
How Information Is Used
- To answer questions submitted through the contact form.
- To prepare and explain Medicare comparisons against the details supplied.
- To create, secure and maintain an account and the material saved inside it.
- To send service messages such as confirmations, reminders and updates about a submitted request.
- To send marketing or promotional messages, but only where that permission has been given and only until it is withdrawn.
- To improve the clarity, accuracy and performance of the pages published here.
- To meet legal, regulatory and record keeping obligations.
Sensitive Health Information
Details about doctors, conditions and prescriptions receive stricter handling than ordinary contact details. They are used to carry out the comparison that was asked for and for nothing else. They are never used to target advertising, and they are never passed to a party who has no role in the request being handled.
Only the information genuinely needed for a comparison is requested. Anything shared beyond that can be removed at any point on request.
When Information Is Shared
Personal information is disclosed only in the narrow situations listed here:
- With service providers who host the site, deliver email or messages, or keep systems secure, and only to the extent their work requires.
- With an insurer, plan administrator or licensed representative when someone has expressly asked for that step to be taken.
- Where disclosure is required by law, regulation, subpoena or a valid request from a public authority.
- Where sharing is necessary to investigate fraud, protect the safety of a person, or defend legal rights.
Service providers are bound by confidentiality obligations and may not use the information for their own purposes.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
Small files stored by the browser keep a session active, remember preferences between visits and gather aggregate figures on how pages are used. Most browsers allow these files to be blocked or cleared through their settings menu.
Blocking them does not prevent the site from being read, though features that rely on remembering a session, such as staying signed in, may stop working as expected.
Text Messages and Email
Service messages and promotional messages are treated as separate permissions and are requested separately at signup. Agreeing to one does not agree to the other, and neither is a condition of using the site or of receiving a comparison.
Replying STOP to any text message ends that stream of messages. Replying HELP returns assistance information. Email subscriptions carry an unsubscribe link in every message. Standard message and data rates set by a mobile carrier may apply, and message frequency may vary.
Data Security
Reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards protect the information held here. Transmission is encrypted, access is limited to those who need it to carry out a request, and stored material is reviewed periodically so that anything no longer needed can be removed.
No method of transmission or storage can be described as completely secure. Choosing a strong, unique password and keeping account credentials private remains an important part of protecting an account.
Retention
Information is kept only for as long as it serves the purpose it was collected for, or for as long as a legal or regulatory obligation requires it to be kept. Account material remains available while an account is open and is removed within a reasonable period after a closure request.
Your Choices and Rights
- Request a copy of the personal information held about you.
- Ask for anything inaccurate or incomplete to be corrected.
- Ask for information to be deleted, subject to any record keeping duty that overrides the request.
- Withdraw consent for marketing messages without affecting service messages tied to an active request.
- Object to a particular use of your information, or ask that it be restricted.
Requests are answered within the period set by applicable law. Verification of identity may be requested first so that information is never released to the wrong person.
Children
This site is intended for adults considering Medicare coverage. It is not directed at children, and information is not knowingly collected from anyone under the age of eighteen. If such information is discovered, it is removed promptly.
Third Party Links
Pages here sometimes link to government resources, insurer sites or other outside references. Those destinations run under their own privacy practices, which are not controlled from here. Reading the policy of any site before submitting information to it is always worthwhile.
Changes to This Policy
This policy is revised when practices, services or legal requirements change. The revision date at the top of the page always reflects the current version, and continued use of the site after an update signals acceptance of the revised terms.
